Old Capitol Quilters Guild
Iowa City, Iowa

If you have photos of any part of the show--including special areas like the Silent Auction, Service Committee Display, or Children's Activities as well as individual quilts--please consider sharing them with us so we can post them on the website and/or save them as part of the Quilt Fest archives. Email them to quiltshow@ocqg.org or copy them to a CD and give it to Vicki Walch.

Download the program from the show. It includes descriptions of many of the Guild's activities plus a directory of 14 nearby quilt shops that support the OCQG through donations to the Quilt Fest and/or advertising in the newsletter and on our website. It also contains a roster of all of the quilts entered in the show.

The 2017 Quilt Fest was a great success!

On June 2-3, 2017, fifty-six members of the Old Capitol Quilters Guild exhibited a total of 234 quilts (plus one tuffet) in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church in downtown Iowa City. This was the third time the Guild held a quilt show in the church. The quilts were draped over the pews and hung from the balcony, making for a spectacular visual experience. A special display of Red & White quilts graced the altar area and the first row of pews.

We welcomed more than 600 visitors to the 2017 Quilt Fest, far exceeding attendance at earlier OCQG shows. We did not charge admission, but anyone making a donation had the opportunity to win one of 12 gift baskets (below left, also scroll down to view individual baskets) donated by nearby quilt shops and Northside Neighborhood establishments.

Visitors were invited to vote for their favorite quilts for our "Viewer's Choice" award. The quilt that received the most votes by far was Jackie Morrical's "Glorious Hexagons" quilt (below).

We hope to post photos of the rest of the winning quilts soon. They include:

2nd place Jill Welter Size Does Matter
3rd place Janann Schiele Amazon Star
4th place Karen Miller Catch Me If You Can
Special commendations (in alphabetical order)
